Words per Minute was set up by Barbara Preston in 2003 as a home-based secretarial service following completion of a FETAC Business Studies course with Distinction and, through that course, working as a local correspondent for The Mayo News; for which she is still working.

She continued her studies at 21st Century Computers in Castlebar, becoming a Microsoft Office Specialist and Expert in all MS Office programs.

Over the past six years Words per Minute has developed into a comprehensive Virtual Assistant Service providing Administrative Support Services for local and national businesses as well as a typing, proofreading and editing service for students and authors.

Barbara is currently the proofreader and sub-editor of Irish Music Magazine and has written many published articles on behalf of clients.

She describes herself as a 'wordsmith' who aims to craft other people's (and her own) words to the highest standard.
